Latest news from the Parish of Goring by Sea. 13th.August 2020.

A new curate for the Parish of Goring by Sea

The following letter from Archdeacon Luke was read at services last weekend:

To the parishes of St. Matthew’s, Worthing and St. Mary’s and St. Lawrence, Goring

Dear friends,

First, may I take this opportunity to thank you all for your faithful life through these strange and

peculiar times. It is wonderful that we are now able, slowly, to re-gather and recover some of our

public worship and life together. Whilst much has changed for all of us through this pandemic, the

unchanging faithfulness, goodness and love of God has and will continue to form, sustain and

strengthen us as his holy people both in your parishes, and across the wider household of faith.

I am also writing to share some news with you about Neill Stannard, currently curate at St.

Matthew’s, Worthing.

Bishop Martin has decided that Neill will continue his curacy in the Parish of Goring to gain wider

experience across the Anglican spectrum.

It is not unusual for a curate to move parishes during their curacy, and building on the good and

strong foundations of his time with Paul and the people at St Matthew’s, this move will sustain

that ongoing process of formation and development for Neill.

We’re very grateful for all that the parish of St Matthew's has given to him in this first vital year,

even through the extraordinary circumstances of recent months. We know too that Goring will

give an equally warm welcome to Neill and Kirsty and the family.

The church family at St. Matthew’s will have the opportunity to pray for Neill and his family, and

wish them well for the future, in early September.

Archdeacon Luke
