Coronavirus rule of six does not apply to worship

The Government’s ban on social gatherings of more than six people, which comes into force on Monday, will not

apply to public worship in churches. Essentially the rules for worship remain the same

The Archbishop of Canterbury wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning: “After contact with Government we hear that

there is no change to guidance on places of worship”.

At the time of going to press we await more detailed guidance, but we understand that our church halls will be able to

remain open as long as the activities continue to adhere to strict social distancing rules. ‘COVID-19 Secure venues

can still host larger numbers in total but groups of up to 6 must not mix or form larger groups’.

Coffee and Danish

Due to the later time and some of the restrictions place on hall use we will be introducing Coffee and Danish in place

of the advertised Parish breakfast. On Sunday September 20th we will be serving Coffee and Danish in St Mary’s

Church Hall between 10.00 and 11.00am. This will hopefully allow both the 9.00am and 11.00am service

congregations to meet up in a safe and socially distanced way. Please book a place through the Parish Office as we

shall have to keep a register. We will look forward to seeing you there.

Diocesan Live streaming arrangements for Sunday 13 September to welcome bishops Ruth & Will

A reminder that this weekend [Sunday 13 September] is a hugely important one in the life of the Diocese as we

formally welcome Bishop Ruth and Bishop Will at special services to be held in the Cathedral. The two services of

welcome [two because of social distancing] will be live streamed so everyone further afield will be able to join in the

Bishop Will who is now the Bishop of Lewes and Bishop Ruth, who is new Bishop of Horsham will be formally installed at 2pm

and 3.30pm respectively.   Please visit the Diocese of Chichester page which gives details of the live streaming of the welcome service for the new Bishops.

A Retreat Opportunity

Finding God in all things…

The pandemic, with the need to lockdown with limited opportunities to

meet together, has left many of us feeling in need of spiritual nurture.

Those who feel able, are invited on an Ignition journey “Finding God

in all things” at Wychcroft Retreat Centre, Bletchingly, Surrey from

Monday 26th until Wednesday 28th October.

This journey is in response to God’s invitation. We don’t need to be experts in anything in particular, neither do we

need to have achieved any particular kind of prayerfulness before we take part. All we bring is ourselves, and our

openness to journey with God. The retreat is limited in numbers to comply with social distancing guidelines and will

only go ahead if this type of event is permitted at the time.
