This Weekend

Parish Mission Focus – October / December 2020 – Soup & Ploughman’s Lunch Please support this event on Saturday 17 October in St Mary’s Church Hall 12.00 noon

We are strictly meeting all government guidance and regulations to

provide a safe environment (‘COVID-19 secure venues can still host

larger numbers in total but groups of up to 6 must not mix or form larger

groups’). There are still a few places left so to assist with catering,

organisation and tracking and tracing requirements please book a place

through the Parish Office, giving your phone number and email address,

as we shall have to keep a register. A choice of soup (leek and potato or

tomato and basil [please state preference when booking]) and the

ploughman’s is being donated but donations in aid of this charity will be

welcome even if you are unable to attend.

If you are self-isolating or feel unable to attend on Saturday 17th we

could deliver a soup and ploughman’s lunch to you on Monday

morning (19th). If you would prefer this option then please book by

contacting Janet Annis ([email protected] or 07788 600794).


Coffee and Danish

After the successful event last month we will again be offering Coffee

and Danish this Sunday 18th October between 10.00 and 11.00am. We are

strictly meeting all government guidance and regulations to provide a safe

environment (‘COVID-19 secure venues can still host larger numbers in total

but groups of up to 6 must not mix or form larger groups’) for a time of

fellowship between the 9.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. services.

To assist with organisation and tracking and tracing requirements it is

essential that you book a place through the Parish Office We will look

forward to seeing you there.


Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – my thanks to everyone who supported this event last Saturday. I am pleased to announce that £245-45 was raised for this Cancer Support Charity. Janice Lelliott


Harvest Retiring Collection for Family Support Work raised £197-01, as well as a mountain of canned and dried food for their Food Bank. Thank you for your continued support for local families through this Diocesan Charity.

Additional services and changes for November

Sunday 1st November

Said Eucharist. Book of Common Prayer. St Mary’s. Please note that this will be at 8.00 am not 9.00 am All Age Worship. 10.00 am. St. Mary’s. (Also live streamed via Facebook). This will replace the 11.00 am Eucharist.

We will be trialing a shorter child friendly service. All children will be given an activity bag to include colouring and crafts to do during the service (seated in the pew) and or take away; and because the children told us they like this about St Mary’s – a biscuit! This shorter service will have music and the very popular animation cartoon gospel. Children will read and say prayers with their adult family members. We will continue to adhere to strict social distancing and family bubbles.

Please book your place via the Parish office. ‘Family bubbles’ please Book a Pew - giving details of who will be in your bubble (up to 6 people).

All Souls’ Day. Commemoration Service. 3.00 pm. St. Mary’s.

This service will include music, prayers and readings and the names of those who have died will be read out. There will be an opportunity to light a candle in memory of your loved one. We hope it will be an occasion for you to find comfort and healing as we each bring our ongoing journey of bereavement to God and share together in this time of reflection and remembrance.
