We are delighted to welcome the Reverend Kate Bailey as our new Priest-in-Charge.
Kate was licensed at a special service at St Laurence's on Thursday 17th October, led by The Venerable Fiona Windsor, Archdeacon of Horsham. The service was well attended by many parishioners from Lurgashall and from our partner Parishes of Northchapel and Ebernoe, where Kate will also be the Priest. There were also many of the clergy from the Petworth Deanery led by the Acting Rural Dean, The Reverend Canon John Bundock, and a large number of both clergy and lay parishioners from Kate's previous Parish at Broadbridge Heath near Horsham. It was heartwarming to hear from them how much they are going to miss Kate, how lucky we are to have her with us and in what affection they all hold her.
Prior to the Licensing Service the Archdeacon held a short ceremony at which she also licensed Kate's husband, John, who is a Reader, to lead services in our Parishes. This means that we are fortunate enough to be getting not one but two new leaders in our Church. We welcome them both most warmly, and hope that they will be very happy and fulfilled in their Ministry here.
Kate will be taking her first service at Lurgashall, a service of sung Communion, on Sunday 27th October at 9.00 a.m.
