DESCRIPTION:This is a wonderfully joyful start to our celebration of Easte
 r! The lights of the church are dimmed and the congregation\, all with sma
 ll unlit candles\, gather outside the porch where a new fire is kindled. T
 he Paschal Candle\, symbolising Christ\, the Light of the World\, is prepa
 red and lit and the light is carried through the church and progressively 
 passed to the whole congregation. The Exsultet\, that great Easter song of
  praise\, is sung and then\, during the singing of the Gloria\, all the li
 ghts of the church are switched on and every candle is lit and the great r
 ound stone in the Easter Garden is rolled away revealing the empty grave c
 lothes. We renew our Baptismal Vows and end with joyful prayers.
