This is the latest covid update as it applies to us:
The government has recently lifted number of lockdown restrictions. Clearly various organisations are not lifting all restrictions. This week the Diocese has released some guidelines too – especially given concern over the increasing numbers of people who are having to isolate again due to the new covid variant.
The rector, wardens and ministry team met to discuss this advice given by the Diocese. Regarding services we all agreed that:
· nothing will change at the moment.
· Services will continue at SSPP only at 10.30am
· Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask even though this is not a legal requirement.
· Social distancing will continue
· And sadly there will be no singing yet.
The PCC will review the situation before the end of August.
Be aware that churches elsewhere will be doing different things according to their own contexts but we have still been urged to be extremely cautious.
Happily, we are advised that singing outside is less problematical. Therefore, we have organised a service with singing and a picnic lunch on Wed 18th August at 11.30am in the church grounds. Hopefully as many of you as possible will feel able to come and join in.
In August too there will be no midweek service since the ministry team will take a break for the month.
The parish Wednesday chat group will cease at the end of this month but the Thursday live zoom prayer group at 4pm will continue.
Some good news is that the church will be open for private prayer during the week from 9.30am until the later time of 5pm.
Thank you all for your patience. Our aim is to keep people safe. Hopefully, we will have better news by the end of the summer.
