THE 'DIVINE OFFICE' (also known as the 'LITURGY OF THE HOURS') is a framework of prayer, praise and reflection that brings the worship of God into daily life. It continues the Church's beautiful and ancient practice of sanctifying each day with psalms supplemented by other hymns, prayers, and readings from the Bible, and readings from the Church's great teachers down through the ages. Praying the Divine Office is not just for clergy and those who belong to religious orders. In our time, parts of it are also being prayed by an increasing number of lay people.
