Ash Wednesday

Occuring
for 30 mins
Venue
Caversham St John the Baptist
Address

A service on Zoom to mark the start of the season of Lent. The Zoom link will be on the CTM Parish website. This service will contain the usual opportunity for us to receive on our foreheads a symbol of the cross in ash. You will need to provide you own ash and mark you own forehead. Some ideas for creating ash in advance of the service include: burning last years Palm Cross; writing down on a piece of paper some issues in you life you want to let go of, and then burning the paper, symbolising forgiveness of sins; burning the end of a wine bottle cork; using a struck match. Do join us.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Caversham Thameside and Mapledurham is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Oxford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
