St Mary's, Walthamstow

St Mary’s is a diverse, inclusive and creative Christian community learning the way of Jesus and growing in love.

From 11 December 2022, our Sunday Services will once again be in our ancient church building: a weekly 9am Holy Communion service and a 10.30am service, which we also live-stream to our Facebook page.

We also meet weekly for Vespers (Wednesdays at 7.30pm) and we live-stream Morning Prayer (Monday to Friday at 8.30am) to our Facebook page.

We do more than meet on Sundays and Wednesdays: we run confirmation, marriage and faith-exploration courses, work with young people and children, manage an award-winning churchyard (with opportunities to volunteer), and advocate for affordable housing, racial justice and a Just Transition to a carbon-neutral London as founding members of Waltham Forest Citizens, our local chapter of Citizens UK.

Our ancient building is the historic parish church of Walthamstow and its oldest building. People have worshipped here for over 900 years, and in February 2023, our building will be open in the day, during the week, and will feature a Froth & Rind cafe alongside a new Exhibition Space, which will include a permenant history display as well as rotating series of arts and culture exhibitions.

We are part of the Church of England and the Diocese of Chelmsford.
