Giving Thanks

Many of us have our routines for Lent. Taking things on, giving things up. And they all have their place, in bringing us closer to God.

Early every morning my Grandma would sing as she prepared breakfast, ‘Count your blessings name them one by one.’

This Lent during these difficult days, can we count our blessings.

Could we, each day, write down three things for which we give thanks. If you are happy to share these as we journey through Lent, I will place them on the Noticeboard in Church.

My hope is we will have a noticeboard that when we are feeling low, when life is tough, we can read what has been written and it will lift our spirits. Those coming into Church to pray may also reflect on what they have to give thanks for in their own lives.

Lent can sometimes feel like a checklist to accomplish, may this Lent be a journey towards Easter where you will see the gifts it has brought you and revealed in your life.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18
