Church of England Diocese of Chelmsford Eastwood

About Us

Eastwood lies approximately four miles west from Southend on Sea in Essex. It is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. During the 13th - 16th centuries, the area was used for hunting by several English kings. Through the centuries, Eastwood has developed from a woodland area to an agricultural parish and finally to the town we know today. For over 1000 years the Parish of Eastwood has been served by our beautiful and historic Grade 1 listed church St Laurence and All Saints. The earliest record of the church that we know of is in 1100 AD when Robert Fitz Suen gave the chapels of Eastwood, Sutton, and Prittlewell to the priory at Prittlewell, however, we do know that the church is much older than that. Today St Laurence still serves the Parish of Eastwood and plays a large role within the local community. We are an Anglican Church within the diocese of Chelmsford, offering a mix of traditional and contemporary worship including Holy Communion and family services. Our mission is to continue the work of Jesus Christ and share His story with future generations. As a church, we also offer coffee mornings, afternoon teas, prayer and bible study groups, messy church, fun days, holiday clubs, and our popular mother and toddler group 'Honeybees' to name but a few!! You are welcome to join us for worship at one of our services.
