May I start by saying congratulations to the community for staying together and supporting one another.
We are very grateful to the Evangelical Church and friends that have enabled the Church at Home to be published and distributed weekly. In addition Stapleford Abbotts have been Zoom conferencing shared worship at 10.30am and Lambourne has a What’s App weekly service. If you would like to know more about them please ask. It appears unlikely that churches will be able to re-open for services anytime soon and so we will continue with our services at a distance.
The pandemic has forced us to rethink all our events.
Stapleford Abbotts we have postponed the flower festival. The Plant Sale should have happened in May but the plants are still there. If nurseries open we may just put the plants out in front of church so watch this space.
Christian Aid Week should also have happened in May and, just as the need increases with the pandemic and climate change they are facing a drop in income from the main source of income. Please do not forget them. We will happily pass on any donations.
As we move out of lockdown and into the future we are asking please may we not return to business as usual. Let us learn the lessons of cleaner air, quieter streets, community support and build a sustainable future that will reduce carbon emissions and give a better quality of life. Abridge Cares has done a fantastic job. Let’s keep it going after the virus. Let us continue to get to know our neighbours, spend time with our families, shop locally
It could be a better world but it will need working at.
