DESCRIPTION:Come and join us tomorrow 11 February for our Parish Mass for 
 the Sunday before Lent (Quinquagesima in old money).  Our readings focus o
 n the remarkable taking up of Elijah into heaven on a fiery chariot\, and 
 the Transfiguration of Our Lord before he turns his face to Jerusalem wher
 e\, as he has already told his disciples\, he will be tried and crucified.
   As he says many times during his ministry\, he comes to fulfil the Law\,
  not to abolish it\, and this is made very plain by the fact that he is se
 en talking with Elijah and Moses\, those great prophets.  The New Testamen
 t reading from Paul's letter to the Corinthians emphasises the glory of Go
 d in the face of Christ. \n\nIf you are coming in person\, don't forget to
  bring your palm crosses\, so that they may be burnt for the ash which wil
 l be used on Ash Wednesday to mark the fact that we are dust\, and will re
 turn to dust.  It is also the last chance to sing Alleluia until Easter\, 
 so make the most of it! \n\nSt Michael's Voyagers will be meeting at 10.30
  a.m. in the parish centre for activities\, prayers\, readings and singing
 \, so do bring your children along to that if you can.
