 ebruary as we celebrate the feast of Candlemas\, which marks the Jewish ri
 tual Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary 40 days after giving birth\, 
 and also the Presentation of Christ in the Temple\, when old Simeon holds 
 the baby in his arms and recognises him as the 'light to lighten the Genti
 les\, and the glory of thy people Israel'.  He also makes a dark prophecy\
 , that Our Lady's soul will be pierced by a sword.  This Sunday marks the 
 very end of Epiphany as we turn towards Lent and Passiontide.  We will lig
 ht candles at the back of church and process into the nave at the beginnin
 g of Mass marking Christ's entry into his temple.  All are welcome either 
 in person or on the livestream.
