DESCRIPTION:Prior to Ordination in 1996\, Simon had spent 20+ years playin
 g in Christian bands and working for an evangelistic charity\, “The Wave
 length Trust” mainly\ndoing outreach in secondary schools\; colleges & u
 niversities\; youth clubs\; and prisons.\n\nIn 1975 Simon played in the Br
 itish Youth for Christ band\, “Really Free” (with Cliff Bergdahl) and 
 then fronted: “Sea Stone”\, “INTRANSIT” and “Fresh Claim”\; do
 ing hundreds of gigs across the UK and Europe. All of his musical output i
 s published by Sea Dream Music and released through Plankton Records.\n\nS
 imon’s first full-time ‘Vicar’s job’ was in Dagenham in 1998 (just
  after getting\nmarried to Sarah!) before moving to be Rector of Pitsea wi
 th Nevendon in 2010.\n\nCurrently\, Simon is able to play guitar and sing 
 (a lot) in Church (as the\nChurches do not have a regular organist)\, and 
 (prior to the pandemic) was very\nactive in four primary schools in the Pa
 rish. (These opportunities are just\nstarting to re-emerge now).\n\nHoweve
 r\, one very positive result of the pandemic was the coming together of\nt
 he “Law Family Band”. Simon’s children Isaac (drums) and Reuben & Sa
 lomë\n(guitars) started playing with Simon for all the recorded services 
 that were put\nout on YouTube when our Churches were closed. (All the film
 ing was done by\nanother daughter – Lydia – graduate in Film & TV Stud
 ies!) The band’s debut\ngig was at the Greenbelt Festival (Prospect Farm
 ) in 2021\, when the band was\nrenamed “The Law Family Banned” (owing 
 to the ‘protest’ and ‘Christian’\ncontent of some of the songs). E
 lements of the band have just played at\nGreenbelt 2022.\n\nRecently\, a l
 ong-lost uncle: the Revd. Dr. Jeremy Law has joined on bass guitar\,\nand 
 their first gig was in Canterbury in September 2022.\n\nSimon has played s
 olo in Wickford (sometimes joined by his son on a few songs) several times
 . We hope he may also play with “The Law Family Banned” and be a lot l
 ouder (!) in the future.
