  a mother presenting her child at the temple. In 1 Samuel Hannah dedicates
  her son Samuel and offers him in service to God as a way of giving thanks
  for the birth of her child. In Luke's Gospel Mary presents Jesus at the t
 emple - God in human form\, who lived and died - and lives again - in serv
 ice to others. These parallel stories of servant-sons draw in to focus and
  look forward to Jesus' ultimate act of service and sacrifice\; giving his
  life on the cross\, that we might be redeemed.
