DESCRIPTION:Remembering the Last Supper and re-enacting the washing of the
  disciples' feet\, ending with a time of silent vigil.\n\nThis service mar
 ks the beginning of the Triduum – the Three Holy Days of prayer that lea
 d up to Easter Day. In reality we begin one service tonight that will last
 \, with interruptions\, until the end of Saturday and the breaking of the 
 dawn of the resurrection. This means that\, technically\, there is no form
 al ending to this service. Over these Three Holy Days we shall be invited 
 to stay close to Jesus through the accounts of the events that led to his 
 death and beyond.\n\nIn this evening's service we remember the Last Supper
  celebrated the night before Jesus died\, re-enacting Jesus' act of servic
 e in the washing of feet and sharing in the eucharistic meal together as w
 e remember the words of Jesus to 'do this in remembrance of me'.\n\nToward
 s the end of the service we move into Gethsemane\, the space of agony and 
 betrayal\, and hear again Jesus' question to his disciples: 'could you not
  stay awake with me one hour?'\n\nAs we hear of the first disciples scatte
 ring in fear\, we are invited to stay spiritually close to Jesus in the ga
 rden as long as we can and then to leave in silence.\n\nThe prayer vigil w
 ill continue until 10.00pm. You are welcome to stay as long or as short a 
 time as you wish.
