Dear friends

Please do join me tomorrow at 10 am for our usual live-streamed service of Holy Communion on our Facebook page here: As always, you don’t need a Facebook account or to be logged in to see the service. You should be able to get to the page simply by clicking on this link, but if that doesn’t work, googling Facebook St Mary’s Oxenhope will take you to the right place. The order of service is available on our A Church Near You page here:, by clicking on View Attachment.

Intercessions for tomorrow are by Robert Whitaker - thank you Robert!

There will be the usual Zoom coffee after the service. All you need to be able to join Zoom coffee is a computer/laptop/tablet or even smart phone with a built in or attached webcam. As usual I’ll send the link for this in a separate email. If you haven’t joined us previously for Zoom coffee, but would like to tomorrow, please just email me and I’ll share the link with you.

Intercessions in future weeks are due to be written by:

2 August - no service

9 August - Jennifer Whitaker

16 August - no service

23 August - Debbie Fisher

30 August - no one on rota - does someone want to offer?!

6 September - Sam Mawer

As always, if you are unable to do these intercessions, just let me know, we can cover it.

Over the next month, both Elspeth and I are having some time off. Elspeth won’t be with us tomorrow, and then from Monday 27th July I’ll be taking a week off. This means that there won’t be a Sunday service, or Zoom coffee, next Sunday 2nd August. Nor will I send a weekly email this week (I hope you can bear the disappointment!)

There also won’t be a Sunday service on 16th August, as both of us will be away.

Weekday services

This week there will be live-streamed morning prayer at 9 am on Tuesday (Book of Common Prayer) and Wednesday (Common Worship). There won’t be morning prayer on Monday, or compline on Thursday.

Next week (week of 3rd August) weekday services will be back to normal, ie morning prayer at 9 am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and compline at 6.45 pm on Thursday.

Children’s activity

Sam writes “In the children’s activities to day we will learn how to bake bread rolls and try and set up a treasure hunt. The word document telling you a bit about the Gospel reading and these activities is attached.”

Giving to St Mary’s

Thank you to all those of you who have continued to give to St Mary’s, and those of you who have given to our new roof appeal. If you would like to do either of these, you can do so in several ways:

- by dropping a cheque, payable to Oxenhope PCC, into the Vicarage (20 Gledhow Drive)

- by setting up a standing order - email me if you’d like to do this and I’ll let you know the church’s bank details

- to give to the roof appeal you can do so online here

If you know of any companies or organisations who would like to give towards our roof appeal, please do put them in touch with me! I am also putting together fundraising bids to a variety of charities.

Building works

We hope that the first part of our building works, the renewal of our lighting and installation of a projector and screen, will begin in the week of 10th August. This will last for at least 2 and probably 3 weeks, and once it is done we will be able to return to church for Sunday worship, with appropriate protections in place against Covid-19. But this does mean that in the weeks of 10th, 17th and (probably) 24th August, church will NOT be open for private prayer on Wednesdays.

With every blessing,
