Extensive improvement works were carried out on the clock made by Cookes of Yorke in the 1860s.

With all the required permissions in place, the Norwich company of S. Michlmayr and Co Ltd were able to complete the work, made possible with a generous legacy left for Fakenham Church by the late Raymonde Nelson specifically for work on the clock.

The stunning example of Victorian mechanical engineering was improved by having the winding system automated.  This means the manual clock winding team no longer take it in turns to climb the 70 steps up the tower to the ringing chamber where the clock is situated.

If you would like to show your appreciation for the clock and would like to donate for its future upkeep, servicing and maintenance, details are on the church website www.fakenhamparishchurch.org.uk
