Knitivity (Nativity) Trail 2020

Follow the Christmas story around the Pineapple Estate through a series of lighted windows, 12th - 24th December. Then on Christmas Eve come along to the Church of the Ascension, Pineapple Grove, at 4pm to see the figures gathered in the crib, as we sing carols. All are welcome!

1. Derwent Road

The Roman soldier announces that everyone must go to their home town to be registered

‘In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered.'   (Luke 2:1-3)

2. Derwent Grove

Mary & Joseph set off with their donkey to Bethlehem

Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child.' (Luke 2:4-5)

3 Ashbrook Grove

The Wise Men see a special star in the East and set off on their camels to follow it

‘Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.’  (Matthew 2:2b)

4 Avebury Rd

Mary & Joseph arrive in Bethlehem but find all accommodation is full

There was no place for them’   (Luke 2:7b)

5 Pineapple Rd

Shepherds are watching their flocks by night on the hills outside Bethlehem

In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.’

6 Brent Rd

Gabriel and the angels appear to the shepherds

Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
