Church of England Diocese of Birmingham St. Matthew with St. Chad, Smethwick

Worshipping with us

13 Jun 2020, 11:45 a.m.

Our Church building has been a place of worship for 165 years but we closed on Tuesday 17 March 2020 at 13:30 due to the pandemic. We hope to re-open for individual prayers in due course as we follow the COVID 19 Safety guidance. We shall put information about re-opening up on our noticeboard outside Church as well as on this website.

Until then, here is a prayer for those of you concerned about the pandemic: Keep us, good Lord, under the shadow of your mercy in this time of uncertainty and distress. Sustain and support the anxious and fearful, and lift up all who are brought low; that we may rejoice in your comfort knowing that nothing can separate us from your love in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Whilst our building is closed, the people of God (the Church) are still at work. Until we can re-open the Church for individual prayers, public prayers and worship, our clergy, ministers and congregation are maintaining their lives of prayer and providing service to those in need during this difficult time. So, if you are in need of spiritual care or pastoral support please make contact with us via email from this website or by getting in touch (see information on left side panel). Our ministry team prays daily for a number of world, UK and local issues, people and concerns. Much of this is done privately but we also share prayers on this website in our "Lord we Pray" section as well as funeral details for those who want us to share this.
