My name is Barbara Hamilton and I am due to join you all for my Curacy in the Parish of St Matthew w St Chad, Smethwick, on 28th June 2020 following my authorisation by the Bishop of Birmingham on Saturday 27th June 2020.
Here is a little bit of information about me.
I was born in England and my parents are both from Jamaica. I am married to an ordained priest, The Reverend Wayne Hamilton and we have four children. The two older boys have left home and have children of their own; the two girls are still at home and the oldest one goes to The University of Manchester and the younger one goes to school.
I am a paediatric nurse by profession and have been in this vocation for the last 22 years. Prior to nursing I did secretarial work. As a nurse, I have been working as an agency nurse for the last few years but for the last couple of years I have not done quite so much as I have been looking after my mum, who recently passed away.
I am a self-supporting minister and will be with the parish part-time alongside the rest of the ministry team. I am looking forward to commencing the next part of my journey with you all and when I am not with you and not working in nursing, I will be doing things I enjoy: walking, writing poetry, listening to music and quiet time.
