Easter Day

4 Apr 2021, midnight

Welcome & Opening Prayer Today is Easter Day when we celebrate and give thanks that even though Jesus died and was buried, he rose again from the dead and was seen by many.

Let’s hear what happened from Mark 16v1-7 (NRSVA): When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. Very early, on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?’ When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. He said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. Go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.’ Silence

Let us pray: God of Life, who for our rescue and liberation, gave your only-begotten Son to the death of the cross. We give you thanks that by his glorious resurrection you have delivered us from the power of our enemy. Grant us the grace, from this day forth, to die daily to sin, and evermore live with your son, in the joy of his risen life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Lords’ prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen

The Grace: May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all, now and evermore. AMEN

Thank you for joining us today. Happy Easter - Christ is risen.
