DESCRIPTION:Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent\, a season of self-exam
 ination\, repentance and preparation for Easter.  Since the Middle Ages\, 
 Christians have observed the start of Lent by having their foreheads marke
 d in ash with the sign of the cross as a gesture of penitence and a recogn
 ition of mortality.   This year\, we will observe Ash Wednesday at the Cha
 pel with a joint Choral Eucharist with the choir and community of St Alfeg
 e Parish Church.  The service will include the Imposition of Ashes and las
 t about an hour and fifteen minutes.  All are very welcome.
