Following Government advice (and after a conversation with Rev Prof Gina Radford) we have decided as a benefice that for services in churches from Sunday 25 July it will not be compulsory to wear face-coverings. However, singing of hymns will re-commence at this point and the advice is that face coverings should be worn for hymn singing for now. Social distancing will no longer be required but we will continue to have doors and windows open for good ventilation. Holy Communion may now take place at the altar (unless you wish it to be brought to you) and there will be directions about this at the first few services. For now we will not be returning to the common cup.
Anyone who wishes to wear a face-mask will be very welcome to do so, and if you are not sure about singing or wish to socially distance still please sit towards the back or at the sides of church so that others will not be singing over you.
We realise that not everyone will feel comfortable with these arrangements. Please let us know if that is the case and we will do what we can to accommodate you; we all need to do our best to be aware of the concerns of each other. Online services will continue each Sunday – please see Noticesheet for timings.
