On 13th June 2020, HM Government announced that places of worship can choose to open to the public for private, individual prayer.
Following all relevant public health advice, including social distancing guidelines and hand and respiratory hygiene measures, and guidance from the Diocese of St Albans, we have now completed a full risk assessment and prepared our church for reopening. All books, cushions and small items of furniture have been removed from the nave, and a hand sanitising station has been provided.
Cottered church will therefore reopen for private prayer on our patronal festival day, Sunday 28th June 2020, between 11am and 1pm. Thereafter, the church will be open at the same each Sunday until further notice. We cannot open for longer at this stage, as we do not have the resources to safely supervise the building during opening hours, or to undertake the intensive cleaning necessary after each open session.
