DESCRIPTION:The Easter Vigil is the most sacred and dramatic liturgy of th
 e Christian year\, marking the passage from darkness to light and celebrat
 ing the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Held after nightfall on Holy Saturda
 y\, it begins in silence and darkness outside the church\, where a new fir
 e is kindled and the Paschal Candle is lit—symbolising Christ as the Lig
 ht of the World.\n\nFrom this single flame\, the light is gradually shared
  among the congregation\, illuminating the church as the ancient hymn “E
 xsultet” is proclaimed. The service then unfolds through a series of rea
 dings from Scripture\, recounting the story of salvation from creation thr
 ough to the resurrection.\n\nThe Vigil also includes the renewal of baptis
 mal promises\, and often the baptism and confirmation of new members of th
 e Church. The celebration then reaches its joyful climax in the first Euch
 arist of Easter\, as the Church rejoices in the risen Lord.
