Music At St John's - Church Choir, Bellringing, Gospel Community Choir

Church Choir:

We have from fifteen to twenty people who all enjoy choral singing in the St. John’s Choir.

We sing (usually in 4 parts) at the regular Sunday morning services which usually includes an anthem during the Communion. We also sing at other services including occasional Sung Evensong, weddings and funerals. We meet for practice at 6.30 p.m. on Friday evenings in the church - this lasts for about an hour.

We are a very friendly group and we would welcome new members – no audition required!

For further information please speak to Micky Clare or Mavis Martin via Parish Office.

The bell tower has a peal of six bells which were given by the parishioners to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee of 1897. The bells were rehung in 1977.

Our bell ringers practise on a Tuesday evening from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and ring for our 10 a.m. service on Sundays. The bells are also rung for weddings and other occasions such as the Queen’s Jubilee, the Olympics, St George's Day, etc.

If you are over 10 years old ( no upper age ) and would like to see how it is done, or just have go, then please join us. It is fun, challenging and social and uses technique rather than strength.
