Remembrance at St Mary's - 1918 - 2018
Thorpe community have worked hard to raise significant funds to restore and enhance Thorpe war memorial ready for the centenary commemoration of the end of the Great War.
Sunday 4th November, 3pm - We welcome the Bishop of Guildford, the Rt Revd Andrew Watson to St Mary's for a very special service of commemoration including Thorpe School Choir, followed by a torchlight procession to Thorpe war memorial and the re-dedication by Bishop Andrew. Then we return to the Rutherwyke Room for a celebration tea. This is an afternoon occasion not to be missed.
Sunday 11th November, 10am - in St Mary's Church we hold the community Service of Remembrance followed by procession to Thorpe War Memorial with local uniformed Organisations ready for 11am, two minutes silence and our community Act of Witness. All are welcome afterwards to return to the Church for refreshments.
