DESCRIPTION:THE EMBER BIG BAND - "REMEMBERING WESTON`S WAR".\nAll Saints\,
the church by the pond at Weston Green\, was consecrated in 1939. Month
s later\, we were at war – and the parish paid a heavy price. It was o
n the main supply route between London and Southampton\; close to the Hawk
ers factory in Kingston (where Hurricane bombers were being made) and to W
eybridge (where Vickers was producing Wellingtons as fast as it could with
the help of women of the community who took on factory work while their m
enfolk were away fighting). Nick Handel\, a former BBC TV producer\, has
put together a `musical documentary` celebrating 80 years since the end of
hostilities. It paints a picture of the war years through the eyes of l
ocal people whose early childhood was spent under the threat of air invasi
on and air attack while enduring evacuation and privation.\n\nWorld War 2
also gave birth to some of greatest songs ever written – and\, for Westo
n`s War\, Nick is bringing in The Ember Big Band to reflect the period wit
h numbers like "Little Brown Jug"\, "The White Cliffs of Dover"\, "In the
Mood"\, "Sing Sing Sing" "On the Sunny Side of the Street" and "We`ll Mee
t Again". \n\n"Remembering Weston`s War" recalls incidents that will asto
 nish a 21st century audience
