And here in Spa in it is a big deal. But the doctrine disappeared from Anglican worship in 1549\, and then partially crept back in again during the 20th century. So some of us do believe it and some of us do not! Because we are a broad ch urch: we are not defined by theology or dogma. We can believe different th ings from one another\, and yet\, we can still share the same communion.\n \nInstead\, in a very Anglican\, way we will simply celebrate Mary\, and r ejoice in the role she played in getting the Son of God onto the stage & l iving out God´s will. And we will remember the things about her that we e ach choose to remember.\n\nThe gospel for the day is the song that Mary si ngs in her joy that her cousin\, Elizabeth\, is about to give birth to Joh n the Baptist. “My soul glorifies the Lord\, my spirit rejoices in God m y Saviour\, for he’s been mindful of the lowly state of his servant.” She is celebrating the fact that God works through the most humble\, the m ost lowly. \n\nGod comes to\, and through\, the ordinary\, the everyday. A nd more than that\, that is how he gives of his goodness. He doesn't come to reward good works or reward some particular characteristic: he comes an d he gives something of himself - without condition\, to the most unspecia l. And he takes the most extraordinary of risks. \n\nFancy placing your gr eatest ever act\, your entry into our world which seals our entry into hea ven\, into the hands of such an ordinary and simple girl as Mary.
