Church_news News_about_our_building

We write with good news about the gradual re-opening of Marden Parish Church, and the commencement of Sunday worship in our building once again. This letter is long, but please do read all of it as it contains important information as to how we can achieve this and continue to keep our church open, while keeping everyone safe and socially distanced.

Our first Sunday service will take place on the 12th July and will take the format of Morning Prayer led by our Reader, Sarah Emanuel and Lay Minister, Amanda Abbitt. The Church will open on Sundays at 10.00am and the service will be at 10.30am. It is proposed that a service of Morning Prayer will then take place at the same time every Sunday until further notice.

Please arrive in good time, as your contact details will need to be recorded and held for a period of 21 days for the Government Track and Trace requirements under the current Covid-19 regulations.

No service books of any description will be used, but instead service sheets will be placed on socially distanced seats. Please choose where you wish to sit and use only the sheet in that place. Please do not change positions after you have decided where to sit. A steward will help you if you are unsure. All cushions/seating pads have been removed from the pews – if you need a cushion for your own comfort and well-being, please bring one with you and take it home after the service. The Church Wardens will give any further instructions before the commencement of worship, including how you should leave at the end of the service.

There will not be a collection during or after the service, and gift aid envelopes will not be in use; if you wish to give it would be very much appreciated if donations could be made by bank transfer or standing order. Please contact our Treasurer ([email protected]) who will be able to help you with this.

In line with Government and NHS guidance, please:

Do not leave home if you or someone you live with has any of the following:

• a high temperature

• a new, continuous cough

• a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste

Check the NHS website if you have symptoms

If you are feeling unwell in any other way, we would also respectfully ask that you make the decision not to attend.

In addition to the recommencement of a Sunday service, the Church will now be open for private prayer on Tuesday and Thursday morning, commencing next week (14th July and 16th July) from 10.00am until 12 noon. There will be stewards on duty to ensure that the correct social distancing is adhered to and to record contact details of those who visit for the Government Track and Trace requirements. If you are willing to be one of these stewards, please do contact Carol Walker on 831132 or [email protected] as she will be setting up a rota of volunteers for the following weeks.

We do hope that this news will bring you great joy that once again we may meet together to worship and pray in Marden Church. If you have any queries, before coming along to the service or private prayer please do contact one of us.

With every blessing

Graham Codling and Carol Walker
