DESCRIPTION:Members of Exmouth Coastal Churches\, and the wider community
 are warmly invited to a screening of People’s Emergency Briefing\, a 50-
minute film exploring the risks to British life and the UK economy from da
mage to nature and the changing climate.\nThe screening will take place at
Holy Trinity Church on Thursday 20 August.\nRefreshments will be availabl
e from 10am\, followed by the screening.\nThe film includes footage from l
ast November’s National Emergency Briefing\, where leading UK experts sp
oke on climate science\, food security\, health\, economics\, national sec
urity and nature. It gives a clear overview of how the climate and nature
crisis is affecting daily life in Britain\, the risks ahead and the practi
cal responses available.\nThe screening will be followed by a discussion o
n what these issues mean for our community and what we can do to look afte
r God’s creation.\nThe film screening is free\, supported by Exmouth Coa
stal Churches.\nSue Moseley ecochurch@excc.church\n\n\nThe Right Reverend
Bishop Graham Usher\, Bishop of Norwich and Lead Bishop for the Environmen
t in the Church of England\, said:\n“We are the first generation to see
the effects of climate change and the last that can do anything about it.
The People’s Emergency Briefing is a wake up call for all of us. The thr
eat posed by climate change and loss of biodiversity dwarfs that\nof other
crises and the public need to be informed so that together we can turn th
e situation around. “All the major church denominations are highlighting
the scale of the threat\, the common desire to see the public properly in
formed\, and calling the Government to lead and take urgent action. “The
Church of England has a clear role in caring for God’s creation and tak
ing prophetic action. With a Christian presence in every community in Engl
and\, I strongly encourage our churches\, chaplaincies and schools to host
screenings of this timely and important film.
