hello all,

it seems every time i switch on the telly there are adverts about the kids going back to school; but that's for a reason - the new term fast approaches. I hope that for yourselves and your children, that there has been good rest over the summer, and that the new term presents some exciting possibilities, as well as the obvious challenges that we are all facing, including in schools.

I, the whole church, are here to support you as best as we can; and know that you are dearly held in thoughts and prayers.

Looking to what is available in September for families...

mid week, mini messy church will continue on Thursdays, but move to an earlier time of 10am. This is for pre-schoolers and adult carers.

There will also be a new after school session trying out on Mondays, 3.30-5pm. This is so that siblings of pre-schoolers can also come along. Don't worry if you can't make it for bang on 3.30pm, but please do let me know if you would be interested in this, so that I can plan for numbers.

Both of these will start in this vein week beginning 27th September.

Sundays - there will the Open The Story service at St Luke's the second Sunday in September 3-4pm. This will be led by Caryll and Peter Ingerslev for September, and children of any age are welcome to that service.

Then our family friendly communion will for that month be on 26th September at 10am at St Margaret's. If your children would like to take an active part, please do let me know.

I am mindful that I am taking some substantial rest at the beginning of the month 30th august - 19th September, and that this is also often when people start to approach me to fill out forms for children wanting to go to St Peter's. Please do know that if I am not answering during that period, to emails or calls, it's because I am resting, but be reassured I will fill out forms as a priority activity as soon as I am back on the 20th. You can pop the forms to the vicarage and they will be placed safely ready for my return to work.

finally, not quite in September, but do know that this Saturday, charter day in Topsham, I will be in the church all afternoon with some simple activities for children based on the day's theme: fish n ships. There will be a big painting by local artist Jane Cope, entitled fish n ships, which focuses upon the impact we have on the oceans, and also the community art that was produced through our august workshops - mosaics and mini boat building - that will be displayed in church too. Would be lovely to see you.

sending you all lots of love, Louise x
