DESCRIPTION:TOPSHAM & WEAR MISSION COMMUNITY PRAYER WALK\nSaturday 20th Ma
y\n\nPrayer walking is as simple as it sounds - praying as you walk. When
we prayer walk we are stepping into our authority as God’s children to b
less people and places in Jesus’ name. This simple task is a great way t
o bring transformation to your local community by asking God to break in.\
n\nThe core of prayer walking is conversing with God\; ask Him to show us
what He sees\; to know His heart for our community.\n\nSTART\nGroup 1 St M
argaret’s at 2pm for prayer walk along Exe to Countess Wear\nGroup 2 St
Luke’s at 2.30pm for prayer walk through Countess Wear\nFINISH approx. 3
pm at 74 Glasshouse Lane for both groups to share refreshments and fellows
hip together. \n\nAs we begin our prayer walk we remind ourselves of Jesus
 ’ words:\nMatthew 7:9-11: \nIs there anyone among you who\, if your chil
d asks for bread\, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish\, wi
ll give a snake? If you then\, who are evil\, know how to give good gifts
to your children\, how much more will your Father in heaven give good thin
gs to those who ask him!\n\nWe pray The Lord’s Prayer together\n\nUse yo
ur natural and supernatural senses\nAs you prayer walk\, be aware of your
surroundings: what you see\, smell\, hear and touch. But also be aware of
what God is saying to you as you move around your community\; if any Bible
verses pop into your head or if you have any pictures\, visions or words
of knowledge. Turn these natural and supernatural senses into prayer.\nCho
ose whether to pray silently or out loud\nThe point of prayer walking isn
’t about being seen praying\; it’s about seeing and praying. You can p
ray quietly together or in silence if it makes you feel more comfortable.
However\, don’t be afraid to speak out prayers if you feel compelled to.
\nPray for others\nAs you walk and pray\, the focus is on those who are li
ving in your community so be intentional about praying for God’s blessin
gs on what you see and feel. Even in difficult areas\, try to pray positiv
ely. Focus on God’s plans and purposes for the place and people that liv
e there. “Your Kingdom come\, your will be done…” is an excellent st
art.\n\nWe finish by saying The Lord’s Prayer as our groups unite togeth
er\nDuring our time of fellowship at the end of our prayer walk there will
be an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve prayed and heard from God. \
n\nKeep going\nAfter our prayer walk\, keep praying for our community. The
Mission Community Prayer Group meets at St Margaret’s Church for a Pray
er Breakfast on the first Saturday of every month at 8am\n\nPrayer walking
is also a way of claiming a specific area for God. \nAs you keep praying\
, continue to ask for God’s blessing in your area\; praying for God’s
kingdom to come and his will to be done in your area. If you feel that God
is highlighting specific needs or challenges\, think about how to take ac
tion\; how could you and your Church be part of God’s solution practical
 ly\, as well as prayerfully.
