Keeping in Touch (24 Sept)
In a recent (and excellent) interview with the Church Times, Archbishop Justin Welby addressed the issue of weary and worn out clergy, saying: ‘Do what you can do & don't beat yourself up about what you can't.'
Being on retreat for a few days at the Society of Mary & Martha at Sheldon in the Teign Valley was a reminder to me of their invaluable support for those who find themselves 'beaten up' in the course of their ministry. The Society's Welcome Pack says:
‘Here may you lay aside burdens borne for self and others. May this place be to you a vessel of love wherefrom you may draw rest, silence, healing, vision. And may the Creator’s love warmly glow from all that you see.’
May we all offer such places in some form or other.

Therefore, so that everyone can feel safe and welcome, we strongly encourage you to continue to sanitise your hands and wear a face mask whenever possible. Please respect other people’s space by not sitting too closely to your neighbour unless explicitly invited to do so. We will continue to ask for details for NHS Test & Trace. If you are experiencing any symptoms you are kindly asked to stay away - even if you have been doubly vaccinated.

Monthly Mailings to people who are not on the internet continue thanks to the generous donations of cash and stamps. Such as been that generosity that we have had not had to appeal for more funds since the beginning of the year. We currently have enough money to cover a mailing which will go out next week and then at the end of October. If you can help please contact John Plumb, Treasurer at St John's, Bishopsteigton (01626 775507) who looks after this on behalf of the Team.
Praying at home - If you have a specific prayer request please send details to Mervyn in the Team Office. He will pass it to the clergy on in strict confidence. The clergy will also be happy to pray over the phone so please do contact them. Information and resources can be downloaded here and Compline (Night Prayer) is available every day. If you would like a printed copy, please contact the clergy.
We appreciate this is a time of concern and please be assured of our prayers and support.
