St Raphael’s Snowdrops, 2021

Although the opportunities to leave home are still strictly limited, (only very local walks, cycles or runs avoiding crossing village boundaries to access green space allowed), God’s creation thrives in other ways. While this year we couldn't offer snowdrops in pots from the Chapel, we offered to reserve bulbs in pots until travel restrictions were lifted.  It was a bit of a leap of faith as to whether this would work - but it did!

We were greatly helped by some publicity on local TV and radio and in newspapers as well as The Church Times.  The orders came in thick and fast and some locally based people have been able to collect snowdrops from the Chapel.  The weather has not been great for actually visiting the grounds which was a shame because the display has been magnificent.

Apart from raising much-needed funds, using our 'click, reserve and collect later' service has generated all kinds of interesting stories about the meaning of snowdrops to different people.

Thank you to everyone who has made donations - we are very grateful.  Next year, we look forward to visitors enjoying the snowdrops in the Chapel grounds and meeting more of you in person.
