New Rector announced!
Six months into the interregnum, our prayers have been answered and we can now announce that Canon Janet Faull is to be our Rector.
We continue as we are until after Easter, at which point we expect that Janet and her husband Martin will move into the rectory, and then start to take up the reins of looking after the Benefice.
We received the following announcement from the Bishop of Oxford:
I am delighted to be able to announce that, following the interviews on 11th January Canon Janet Faull has been appointed as your new Rector. She is currently the Vicar of St Barnabas, Gloucester and Area Dean of Gloucester City. She trained originally at the Royal Academy of Music and then at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she did the Post Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy. Later on, alongside being a mother she was a Primary School teacher. She did her curacy in Cheltenham but is very much looking forward, along with Martin, her husband, to getting back to their rural roots.
She writes, reflecting on your profile, ‘A heart for rural ministry is exactly where I find myself. Both my husband and I were brought up in villages and every village is unique. We look forward very much to joining you and to see what God has in store for your churches and communities in the coming years.’
Janet will stay in her present parish until just after Easter and I look forward to instituting her as your Rector some weeks after that.
The Rt Revd Colin Fletcher OBE Bishop of Dorchester
