REMEMBRANCE 2020 - The bell tolls at St Edmunds
On 5th November 2020 the country transitioned into Lockdown, the doors of our churches closed for all but ‘Individual’ Private Prayer and funerals, and once more our Mission Community Sunday Services, including the Annual Remembrance Service, went on-line.
The Royal British Legion encouraged us all to stand on our doorstep to mark a two-minute silence for Remembrance Sunday, and if you did I hope that you heard one of the local church bells toll calling us, and preparing us for time of remembering and reflection.
The St Edmund’s church leadership team are grateful to Mr Mike Rigley for approaching us and offering to ring the bell at St Edmunds. Rev Jackie Taylor said: “Each church bell , is a powerful symbol of the presence of our God in the midst of our communities , and the Church’s living presence in the communities of which we are a part – in solidarity - in Remembrance and hope.”
