 us. \nIn this year’s Advent Carol Service\, the story unfolds through a 
 tapestry of Bible \nreadings and the poetry of Malcolm Guite\, whose work 
 gives voice to the wonder and \nhumanity of Mary’s calling. Guite\, a po
 et-priest known for his sonnet sequences \ninspired by Scripture and the C
 hristian year\, draws us into the mystery of divine grace \nreceived in hu
 man form. \nAs we listen to words ancient and new\, and as music and silen
 ce weave between \nthem\, we are invited to contemplate Mary not only as t
 he mother of Jesus but as the \nfirst disciple — the one who bears Chris
 t into the world and teaches us how to receive \nhim ourselves. \nMay this
  journey in word and wonder deepen our longing for the coming of the \nwor
 ld’s Redeemer\, and awaken within us a readiness to bear his light into 
 the \ndarkness of our time.
