Mid-week groups

Home Groups

We have several home groups that meet mid-week, mostly in the evenings but some meet earlier in the day. These groups are for fellowship, Bible study and prayer and well over half the church belong to one of these groups, they are considered a very important part of church life.

Men @ St. Marks

St. Mark’s has a group specifically for the men in our parish. We meet for breakfast at 9am, on the first Saturday of the month at a local eatery and usually get around 12/15 men coming along. All of our events are on our web site and our Facebook page ‘men@stmarks’. For more information contact [email protected]

Thursday Club

The Thursday Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month in the Church Hall. We run a varied programme of activities for the older generation.

All of the activities are geared towards the opportunity to share food, fun and fellowship. Although there are occasional lunches, most events are centred around a traditional afternoon tea, offering freshly prepared rolls, sandwiches and homemade cakes.

New members are very welcome to come along

“Julian” Prayer Meeting

7.00pm on the first Tuesday of the month in the Church. These are silent prayer meeting lasting 30 minutes so there’s no praying out loud and no sharing etc. These meetings are between you and God so the meeting is to facilitate this in a prayerful atmosphere. Silence is essential so please try to be there for a prompt start, refreshments will be available afterwards, All welcome

Open Church

Every Monday 10am-12noon

Choose from the following options:

chat and drink tea/coffee
spend time in prayer and reflection
sing songs of praise (11.30am)
join us in exploring how to find hope, peace & purpose (26th June at 10.30am for 3 weeks)

Nurture Groups

A nurture group is typically 3 or 4 people spending regular time together, exploring what it means to be disciples of Jesus Christ. For some people, same-sex nurture groups are their preferred way to talk about life issues and pray for one another. For others, a couples’ nurture group may be the safe space that allows mutual flourishing. St Mark’s also encourage family nurture groups and youth nurture groups.

Please see the file attachment at the bottom of this page.

Alpha

We all have questions. Questions about ‘life, the universe and everything’. Some people have questions about faith - is there a God? A meaning to life? The Alpha course looks at questions people have about Christianity: Who was Jesus of Nazareth? Why do Christians worship him? Do Christians live differently? All good questions.

Alpha is all about exploring good questions in a relaxed atmosphere. It’s also a great way to meet new people, drink coffee and eat cake!
