SEWING DAY. – Dilton Marsh Memorial Hall 16th October 10am—4pm
This is community project arranged by Holy Trinity Church, Dilton Marsh. The aim of the day is to support the Pachamama Project by making reusable sanitary pads for refugees around the world. Period poverty is the lack of availability and access to sanitary products, normally, due to financial constraints. This causes many women to resort to using scraps of tissue or even socks which can lead to infections. Period poverty is a global issue, but the pandemic has shone a light on the most vulnerable in society. The pads are easy to make and will, we hope, make a huge difference to people already facing unimaginable daily challenges. Having your period should not be one of those challenges. More information can be found www.thepachamamaproject.org.
This is a day when we hope the saying “many hands make light work” will be the case. It will be very helpfully if you are able to bring any of the following items :- Sewing machine, scissors- plain and /or pinking shears, sewing threads, [any colour], pins, cotton fabric [the fabric should be clean and good as new or new -check there is no colour fade or wear, also, please avoid plain white/cream]
If you cannot bring anything don’t let that stop you from coming, there is plenty to do; cutting, out ironing etc. There is bound to be something you can help with and you can always enjoy chat and a cup of tea. Stay as long as you wish. There will be tea and coffee available all day, if you plan to stay all day please bring a packed lunch. Please contact Sally [DiltonMarshPCC [email protected]Whtministry.org.uk ] if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting you.
