DESCRIPTION:Plough Sunday was celebrated on\n5th January 2025 at Winterbor
 ne\nMonkton. Traditionally Plough Sunday\nmarked the end of the mid-winter
 \nChristmas festivities. The twelve days of\npartying and celebrations wer
 e finished\nand Plough Monday was back to work.\nBut before work started\,
  the plough (often a\ncommunal one for the whole village) was\nbrought to 
 church to pray for a blessing on it and the work it would do. After\nthe s
 ervice it was taken (often with dancing) round the village and villagers\n
 were invited to make contributions to the cost of its upkeep and the upkee
 p of\nthe Church that had blessed it. Rev'd Keith Magee is seen here with
