Church of England Diocese of Rochester St. Luke, New Brompton

7. 'Reach @ Gillingham Pier'

This is a Mission Initiative, set up under a Bishop's Mission Order, to establish a Fresh Expression of Church on the new riverside developments in the northern parts of the three separate parishes of St Mark, St Luke, and St Mary Magdalene, Gillingham.

The aim of the Mission Initiative is to establish a Christian presence in the heart of the new development, to foster and serve the new community, to demonstrate authentic Christian values in its relationships, and to point people towards Jesus by incarnational lifestyle. It will demonstrate hospitality in every way, and be ready to be an advocate and friend to all, but particularly to the poor and marginalised.

The appointed Associate Lay Minister is Terry Whittaker, based at St Mark's Church, and he has formed a team of volunteers to help him in this venture.  More details from Terry at [email protected]

The Team's new website (with links to the monthly newsletter and social media sites) can be found here:

The assisted living development at Prospect Place is being used as a 'base camp' as work proceeds...

St Luke's is fully committed to this Mission Initiative. Our regular service of Holy Communion at Prospect Place on the first Friday each month will continue for the time being, in collaboration with Terry and his team, and other services arranged under the Mission Initiative are detailed on the Reach website.

Regular monthly services are now being held as follows:

230pm on the FIRST Sunday each month at the Premier Inn Hotel (opposite Prospect Place), Blake Avenue, Gillingham, ME7 1FX.

230pm on the THIRD Sunday each month in the Residents' Lounge, Prospect Place

230pm on the FIRST Friday each month in the Residents' Lounge, Prospect Place (usually a Holy Communion service conducted by ministers from St Luke's)
