Church of England Diocese of Rochester Ifield

We welcome our new Priest in Charge

20 Mar 2021, noon

The Revd Edward Hurst is now the Priest-in-Charge of Holy Family, Gravesend with St Margaret's, Ifield. Ted, as he is known, will fulfil this new role alongside his existing responsibilities as Vicar of Shorne, a post he has held for the last four years.

Ted was ordained in this Diocese in 2011 and served his curacy as part of the Team at South Gillingham, so he has a good deal of experience of ministering across multiple church sites. Before Ordination he was, for a number of years, the Children's Ministry Adviser for the Diocese of Canterbury, and he has been able to use his background and special interest in children's ministry to good use at Shorne with the introduction of a number of initiatives for young families, as well as in his work with the local school. Ted is also the driving force behind a number of Shorne's community-based projects and outreach.

Ted is married to Sylvia, who also plays an active part in church life. They have 3 sons and 3 grandsons.

Although Ted and Sylvia will remain in their current Vicarage, they are both very much looking forward to getting to know the church family and wider community at Holy Family and St Margaret's, particularly as Covid-19 restrictions are eased.
