DESCRIPTION:A chance to take a look inside Cuxton's Grade 1 listed church 
 of St. Michael's which dates back to Norman times. This open day gives an 
 opportunity for people to appreciate the church interior in their own time
 \, with church wardens on hand to answer any questions. The origins of Cux
 ton Church trace back to the Saxon period\, with the first recorded mentio
 n of a church in Cuxton appearing in the Domesday Book of 1086. \nThe curr
 ent church\, dedicated to St. Michael and All Angels\, was largely constru
 cted in the 13th and 14th centuries. Its architecture reflects the Early E
 nglish Gothic style\, characterized by pointed arches\, intricate stonewor
 k\, and an elegant simplicity. Over the centuries\, various additions and 
 restorations have enriched the church's structure\, including the construc
 tion of the tower\, which houses a peal of historic bells. Many Romano –
  British remains have been found in the near vicinity\, and the churchyard
  apparently contains buried structural remains\, possibly a Romano – Bri
 tish mausoleum.
