People in our community may be experiencing hardship this Christmas time, especially because of COVID 19. But also possibly for other reasons.
Via the Simply Halling Facebook page, residents were asked if they wished to set up an appeal to raise food, toys/games, clothes and toiletries for those in need. This went down well and on 5 and 12 December there was a big donations drop off at the Halling Community Centre.
We want to then distribute "Christmas Present Packs" to families, couples, individuals or pensioners in need in our community - and we are trying to get this message out to people (either so that they can benefit from this themselves or else so that they can nominate another person or family who need help at this time).
(Please pass on to anyone who could be helped in this way.)
We have set up the email account for families in need to confidentially contact me if they wish to receive a Halling Community Christmas Present pack or for anyone who knows someone who would benefit by such a Christmas present.
The email address is: [email protected]
Families or individuals can contact us to let us know if they would like to receive something from the appeal. We DON'T need evidence of hardship (this is all taken on trust).
We would like to know whether people are happy to come in and choose items for themselves at the Community Centre on Saturday 19 December; or whether they would prefer items to be delivered? If the latter we will need to know how many people are in their household and whether there are any children. We don't need personal info, just an idea of anything we shouldn't provide (e.g. if someone in the household has a nut allergy it helps to know that so we can try to avoid food items with nuts for them).
