About the church

Built: 1982
Architect: Raymond Hall
Listing: not listed

St James' church occupies the ground floor of what was the Herald Youth Club. The congregation moved from the old Victorian St James' church building which is now occupied by Goldsmith's College. The new church opened in 1982 and was designed to be a blending of items from the old church, such as the altar frontal, stained glass and pulpit, melded with the modern design, lighting and organ of the new worship area.

After another period of redevelopment to bring the church in line with current disability access requirements, the current church building was rededicated by Bishop Christopher in 2012. It provides us with a welcoming and flexible worship space, together with add space for church and community projects.
