Mothers' Union

St. Martin's has a thriving Mothers' Union that organises a varied programme of monthly meetings for its members and guests, including speakers on serious subjects as well as light-hearted topics.

The group meets on the 2nd Monday in the month at 8.00pm in the Maxim room. All meetings are open, so you can come and visit if one of our speaker’s subject interests you.

We continue to support Bexley Women’s Aid, providing welcome bags for the mums and children in the homes. Also Advent calendars, Easter eggs and other small collections throughout the year. With the help and support of Father Gareth and the church family we are able to regularly donate items to the refuge through our Harvest collection. We also support the Mission to Seafarers by knitting hats, gloves and scarves which are much appreciated.

Throughout the year we have a variety of speakers and some fellowship times. In addition to our local support we enjoy participating in Deanery and diocesan fundraising and events, such as the prayer pilgrimage to Rochester Cathedral on Mary Sumner day and the two Members meeting. We join with other members of the Mother’s Union in our deanery for an Advent service and for Lady Day.

We also have  fundraising efforts such as MAMD cake sales after the Mothering Sunday service.

We also have time for some social activities such as an annual summer garden party and a summer outing.
