Easter Vigil.

Occuring
for 1 hour, 30 mins
Venue
St John the Baptist
Address
St John the Baptist, St John the Baptist Wood Lane Kidmore End Reading, RG4 9AX, United Kingdom

On Holy Saturday (Easter Eve), 30th March, there will be a Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter at St John’s, starting at 9.00pm. This service hasn’t taken place in the benefice in living memory, and it’s good to revive it - it’s the climax of the Christian year and it is moving, beautiful, and powerful. We will begin outside and take the new Easter candle into the dark church, where we will listen to a set of readings from the Old Testament, after which we will celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter with much joy. The whole service should last between 90 minutes and two hours, and refreshments will be served afterwards.

Safeguarding

The parish of Kidmore End and Sonning Common is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Oxford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
